An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Father of Lies

(Pro 12:22 KJV)  Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Our culture seems to have given up on telling the truth.  In fact the intellectual voices of our day would deny that there is any absolute truth.  It is not just a passing fad of a few journalists.  It is a philosophy that has taken hold.  At the heart is a rejection of the God of the Bible.  You may have heard of Satan being called the “father of lies”.  That comes from Jesus.

(Joh 8:44 KJV)  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Everything is not relative and open to interpretation.  Sure, we can have different opinions on what is a beautiful painting.  Some people are inspired by the sea shore, others by forests.  Yet it is clear that lying is an “abomination” (8441).

So?  Don’t accept the world’s rejection of truth.  We are called to a different standard and we ignore it at our peril.
