An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

More Coffee?

(Pro 4:22 KJV)  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

So many important details in life have both an objective and a subjective element.  Here we are reading about the chance to experience “life” (4832) and “health” but notice it is not guaranteed or automatic.  One of the problems with the Bible that is often ignored is the conditional quality of the promises.  People want automatic refills on their prescriptions.  God usually demands that you request them.

I remember a visual effect in an amusement park attraction.  I think it was one of the Haunted Shack type of things.  It had a faucet suspended in mid-air with a constant flow of water running down into a cup that never overflowed.  To a small child it was impressive.  To an adult with a bit of awareness it was obvious there was a tube hidden in the stream of water.  Automatic refills are an illusion in most spiritual matters.  God is not a waitress who comes by every few minutes to top off your coffee cup.

So?  The answers to life are right in front of you.  Make sure you do your part in receiving them.
