An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Any Volunteers?

(Pro 12:24 KJV)  The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Two days ago I wrote about how being lazy can make you poor.  Today we have another reality that sometimes forces itself on us.  We have not seen this in recent times, at least not in America but there have been times in history when the rulers needed a labor force to do something that no one wanted to do.  They would send out a squad to round up anyone who was not busy with a job.  If it was just your day off then it is a bad day to be relaxing.  The British would “recruit” sailors for their navy using what were called press gangs.  If you have ever been in the military and they needed a work detail, you don’t want to be anywhere in sight.

Or it might have been that the rulers were looking at all the guys standing around with nothing to do but get into trouble.

So?  I think the idea for us might be that if we don’t focus and find something useful to do then someone else will find it for us, and the pay will not be great.
