An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

So Inclined

(Pro 4:20 KJV)  My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

I remember a choral response that was used weekly when I was younger.  That was back in the days when we had choirs.  The words, from memory were,

Hear our prayer, O Lord.
Hear our prayer, O Lord.
Incline Thine ear to us.
And grant us Thy peace.
Amen.

It is interesting that both God and man are urged to “incline” (5186) depending on the situation.  In Proverbs it seems to be usually man leaning toward God.

So?  Recently I was on the back porch with the dryer running and could tell my wife was trying to tell me something from the living room.  It wasn’t working.  The only way I could find out what she was saying was to move toward her.  God is speaking.  We need to move.
