An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Disposable Income

(Pro 3:9 KJV) Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

Do you have any “wealth” (1952)?  If you are an American that is a stupid question.  The poorest of the poor in our country would be looked on as wealthy in most third world countries.  Picture a child with no shoes, one pair of clothes and two days without a decent meal.  Give him the loaded shopping carts of an American street person.  He would be in rapture.  If you are reading this you have an electronic device and electricity.  I would guess you have a roof and running water too.  We are wealthy.

The point here is not to quibble over tithing or if the giving is just on the first check.  It always amazes me how people have trouble with tithing.  I imagine God is going to have some long talks with them just as he will talk to me about my eating habits.

So?  Give.  Share.  Rejoice in the ability.
