An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Get Away

(Pro 14:7 KJV) Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

Most of us have had times when we could not concentrate because of noisy distractions.  Maybe I am the only one.  I know that as I get older I find it hard to hear people over certain types of background noise.  A simple example is being in the shower or around running water.  What did you say?  I don’t have a clue.  The same in noisy restaurants.  It is hard to understand.

The word “perceivest" (discern NASB) (3045) in the Hebrew is one of those common words that has a deeper nuance.  It is yada.  It is a form of deeper comprehension.  It means to know on the deepest level.  There are times when in order to hear the Lord, let alone understand, we need to get away from the distractions.  I find that early morning is the best time to get away from the things that demand attention.  I love sitting on the front porch with my guitar and coffee and basking in the Presence.

So?  If you want it enough you will find it.  God waits, nudging.  It is worth listening.
