An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Live Wise

(Pro 4:10 KJV) Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Wisdom will lengthen your life.  Is it magic?  Is this superstitious mumbo jumbo?  Is it an empty hope?  No, it is an obvious truth.  Wisdom is the quality that observes, compiles and acts on what goes on around us.  Wisdom knows the difference between an empty wish and a solid conclusion.  Wisdom is at the root of the scientific method because the scientific method is rooted in the Biblical view of God.  You probably won’t want to say that in your science class but that is wisdom too.

The only reason we can use the scientific method of proofs and experiment is because we believe in an immutable God who created the universe and maintains it in His hand.  If that is not the case then Mother Nature could decide at any moment to make electricity behave different at any time and turn off the law of gravity.

So?  If you know the tune you can tell when you hit the wrong note.  Wisdom helps you do that in life and keeps you alive longer.
