An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

(Proverbs 29:19 KJV)  A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

“Slave NASB” (5650) or “servant KJV”?  To us they are two different concepts but in the Old and New Testaments they are interchangeable.  Part of that is a view of social class that was different.  Part is an understanding that we are all in submission to something.  Modern Americans with their John Wayne, macho mind set tend to think that we are totally free.  The Bible does not look at it that way.  In the Bible the masses are controlled by sin.  That is why the world is in a handbasket on a journey.  The only hope is to submit to the lordship of Jesus.  As Jesus Himself said,
(Matthew 6:24 KJV)  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
The only way to belong to Jesus is to give Him your heart, soul, mind and strength.  Words alone won’t cut it.

So?  Whom do you serve?  Who is your master?  Don’t be afraid to be a slave.  You are anyway.
