An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Press the Start Button

(Proverbs 9:10 KJV)  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

You have to start somewhere.  The place you begin depends on your goal.  People come to Jesus through different routes.  I have talked to people who became Christians because they saw a movie, “The Late, Great, Planet Earth” by Hal Lindsey.  Some grew up in a Christian home and can’t remember the beginning of real faith.  Some came intellectually by considering all the facts and making a decision.  Different people with different motivations.

The “beginning” (8462) if you are seeking “wisdom” (2451) is “fear” (3374).  This is where you put aside your fear of death, your comfort in family, your curiosity, your insecurity or whatever the Holy Spirit used to bring you in and make a conscious choice to fear God.  It is where you put aside your agenda because you realize it won’t work.  It means you put your life in His hands, accept His standards, choose His priorities and begin to seek answers to questions you didn’t even know needed to be asked

So?  Have you started the path to wisdom?  Some never get there but it is a road God wants us to travel.
