An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Pray Attention

(Proverbs 21:11 KJV)  When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

Wisdom is a win/win.  Look at this.  This is more than slowing down when you see someone getting a ticket.  You know you speed up as soon as the cop is out of sight.  This is watching someone else fry their brain on drugs and avoiding them yourself.  This is learning to not go out to dinner at 8:00 on Friday night.

The second win is that you listen to what people tell you.  It may be something as simple as reading about all the diseases caused by obesity and cutting back on your food.  It might be taking the advice of Proverbs on raising children.  Either way, wisdom pays off.

So?  The lessons you need are all around.  Don’t just pray for guidance.  Pray attention.
