I think it was Groucho Marx who said, “I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.” I think I want to walk with wise men but what makes me think that wise men will be willing to walk with me? Perhaps the answer to that is found in another part of Proverbs,
(Proverbs 17:28 KJV) Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. If I want to be accepted by those who are truly wise then I need to keep my mouth shut. That means listening instead of talking. That is very hard for me to do because I have so many opinions.
So? I need to work on not sharing every bit of “wisdom” that comes to me. That will probably be more of a blessing for those around me than for me.
