An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Supporting Roles

(Proverbs 28:12 KJV)  When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

How do the “righteous” (6662) “rejoice" (triumph NASB) (5970)?  We know that it is hard to be successful being honest when the competition cheats.  Think of games you have played against people who are always cheating.  Think of elections when to vote is rigged.  Think of tests when others have a copy of the questions ahead of time.

Of course the necessary ingredient is God’s blessing.  God could deal with the hearts of kings.  At the other end He could make a donkey talk.  The hard thing for us is that the way God usually works is through His people.  So again I ask, How do the righteous triumph?

Usually the righteous come out on top because they are backed by other upright people.  When the church is the church our power is multiplied.  When we seek His kingdom and His righteousness our strength is multiplied.

So?  We live in a republic where we are free to vote our conscience.  We need to pay attention to that conscience, look at the issues and people and act accordingly.  And I don’t mean stay home and sit it out.
