An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Death Watch

(Proverbs 2:18 KJV)  For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

As Christians we tend to think in terms of life.  This verse is talking about “death” (4194).  It doesn’t hurt us to stop and think about it for a moment.  One reason is that we can rejoice in being delivered.  No matter how you define death, it is no longer a concern for us.  The other reason is that we need to understand how serious the issue is for those we love who are not saved.

I get the idea of a road that slowly descends to disaster and hopelessness.  This is not the picture of one mistake or moment of rebellion that casts us into the fire of hell.  This is a complacency and casual attitude toward life that lulls us into a sense of comfort.  It is a road to disaster.

So?  Take salvation seriously.  Be praying, witnessing and living like those you love are caught in a sinkhole.  They are.
