An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Healthy Attitudes

(Proverbs 18:14 KJV)  The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

“Infirmity” (sickness NASB) (4245b).  We all experience it.  It may be of differing intensity and frequency, but it hits all of us.  When I was younger I would not let illness stop me.  I would keep on.  As I get older I find that I don’t have the energy, the need or the foolishness to push.  I take a day off and take care of myself.

What heals us?  We believe that God’s hand is in it.  We also understand more now about how
God designed the body to deal with illness.  We understand the physical workings but we still see that our attitude has a lot to do with out recovery.  Some people who get a serious illness will give up and die quickly.  At the other extreme are those who refuse to give up and end up being restored.  We can’t quantify it, but somehow our attitude effects the physical body.  That is what Proverbs is talking about.

So?  Do you trust and believe that God has a future for you?  Are you defeated before the day begins?  It makes a difference in how you heal.  Give your body a fighting chance to work the way God has designed it.  Remember we are not just a mobile chemical factory but a combination of body, soul, mind and will.
