An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Big Rascals

(Proverbs 19:28 KJV)  An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

How do you label the people that seem to be a drag on society?  That is not a politically correct concept today.  That is what “ungodly" (rascally NASB) (1100) is trying to get across.  It is interesting that the most common use of this word in the KJV is some form of “children of Belial.”  It could be sons or daughters.  The NASB waters it down a little with such things as “worthless fellows.”

There are some people who are nothing but oxygen consumers because they have either never been taught the concept of responsible citizen or have rejected it because it doesn’t fit their narcissism.  Either way works out the same.  We are called to be servants of the living God.  We are called to walk in righteousness.  We are not called to be rascals.

So?  Are you are rascal?  Are you worthless?  Are you leading other people down that road?  I would hope not.  Only you and God can say.  Something to think about.
