An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Making Air Travel Pleasant

(Proverbs 3:17 KJV)  Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

This is talking about the effects of wisdom.  It makes life “pleasant” (5278).  One of the words used to define this is “delightful” but it is never translated that way in the NASB or KJV.  Wisdom has a way of putting the shine on life.  It moves our “ways” (1870) from endurance to enjoyment.  It gives us a perspective that changes everything.

For instance, I am getting to where I hate flying.  It is not fear.  It is the frustration and discomfort of security measures and smaller seats.  But there is something that can change the trip from a time of misery to a time of anticipation.  It is the knowledge that my children will be waiting at the airport when I arrive.  Suddenly the trip is moving me toward joy instead of just through the air.

So?  Remember that wisdom starts in a fear of the Lord and a knowledge of His word.  Do your homework.  Get in touch.  Bring a bit of joy to your journey.
