An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Danger in Dependability

(Pro 7:20 KJV)  He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.

This adulteress had a husband that she could depend on.  He was gone on business and she knew how long he would be gone by the money he took with him.  I would imagine he also told her when he would return.  She knew she could count on him to be true to his word.  She used his dependability to betray him.

Does that mean that we need to get sneaky and mysterious?  Does that mean that our wives should just guess when we will get home from work?  I don’t think so.  I think it is more of a warning for us that people will take advantage of our good side as well as exploit our weaknesses.  Have you learned to turn the other cheek?  Will people take advantage?  Yes.  Does that mean we abandon the path of righteousness?  No.

So?  Expect people to manipulate you even when you are doing what is right.  We are surrounded by an evil world and one of the Devil’s names is Schemer.
