An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Red Delicious Aren’t

(Proverbs 8:19 KJV)  My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Wisdom is talking to us here.  We are being reminded to go for the gold.  That is a term that relates to sports and competition but also reminds us of how we invest our lives and how we choose our priorities.

In the heat of the moment we sometimes forget to look for quality.  The other day I was trying to buy some apples.  They had bins full of red delicious.  The Fujis and Granny Smiths were piled high.  They had Gala.  What I wanted were Braeburns or Jazz and there were only a few under the sign.  Some selfish person was taking the best of them.  They were going fast.  I did not have a chance to examine them carefully or choose just the right one.  When I got home I was not really happy with what I had.

So?  Don’t live your life that way.  Life is more than a choice of apples.  Take time to consider what is valuable.  Seek wisdom.  It is trying to get through but your line is busy.
