An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Key

(1Sa 7:6 KJV)  And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the LORD, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.

(Proverbs 20 also read)

I have made a number of observations while reading through Psalms.  The writers are repeatedly pointing out how God has judged them and times are hard.  They are continually pleading for God to restore them and punish there enemies.  What is missing so often in Psalms is present in this verse:  Repentance.

Notice that they are confessing their sin.  They are pleading for God to have mercy on them.  Because they confess, God answers.  If you keep reading you will see that happening.

So?  Don’t fall into the trap of asking for blessing if you are not willing to confess and repent.
