An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Impossible Dream

(Psa 4:4 KJV)  Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

(Proverbs 24 also read)

Would God command us to do something that is impossible?  I would think the answer is, “No.”  If that is the case they why would He tell us not to “sin” (2398) if we cannot help it?  I would say that the answer is obvious.  Believe your Bible, not your friendly neighborhood theologian.

It does not say it is impossible to sin.  It does not say that you will never sin.  It is simply an admonition to avoid sin.  That is within the range of our actions.  The next verse gets into trusting.  Other verses talk about forgiveness.  It is all here if you keep reading.

So?  Sin not.  Of course, if you do then check out I John 1:9.
