An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Our World of Fantasy

(Pro 23:35 KJV)  They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Earlier in the chapter we read about drunks and gluttons.  Here at the end we get down to the real issue:  Living in a world of illusion.  This verse could be funny if we did not find ourselves surrounded by people who refuse to look at reality.  How can anyone who knows how to put a shirt on believe that there are more than two genders?  How can anyone who has ever changed a diaper not know that you have only boys and girls?  That kind of explains lot.  I would guess that many of these people have never done either.

I can call my sin “righteous” until I might start to believe it on one level.  When the payment for my sin comes due I can blame my parents, society or, the current favorite, white skin but the payment is still due.  And that is just the damage in this life.  Eternity takes it to another level.  I wonder how much of the misery of Hell will be sitting around blaming everyone else for our misery and knowing it was our choice.

So?  Wake up if you are still asleep.  If you are already awake look for opportunities to alert others.  The odds are they won’t want to listen but you never know.
