An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Media Faith

(Pro 9:14 KJV) For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

The similarities between the call of wisdom and folly are striking, and frightening.  Here we are looking at folly.  How are we to tell the difference?  I think it is possible.  You might want to tune in to one of the big names in media Christianity.  Names that come to mind are Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer.  I must point out that I do not personally listen to either of them.  I think I may have been in the same room during an entire Meyer presentation but I don’t think I have heard more than clips and quotes of Osteen.  Another name that comes to mind is Franklin Graham.  Whom would you trust?

You would need to listen to each one.  I am not sure how long you would need to listen to begin to form an opinion.  It might depend on how much you read the word of God on your own.  I get the feeling that it would not take too long to begin to sense some dissonance with Osteen and Meyer.  Again, it would  depend on how much you have read yourself and how well you listen to the Holy Spirit.

So?  Always remember that Satan and his minions do not charge you in a red suit and waving pitchforks.  I believe he is called the Angel of Light.  Never turn off your powers of reason.
