An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Seeing the Lion

(Proverbs 26:13 KJV)  The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

I have seen the lion.  In military parlance they talk about having seen the elephant.  It means you have been shot at in combat, you are more than a barracks rat.  Seeing the lion means that I have seen work that needed to be done and I found a way to avoid it.  If it happens between Christmas and New Years you can probably get away with it but remember that there are many things in life that will not get done if you don’t do them.

This is the beginning of another condemnation of sloth.  Here the focus is on excuses.  I don’t know about you but I have a million of them.  Of that number a dozen are legit.  The rest are just ways of putting off what I don’t want to do.

So?  I need to work on honest assessment of tasks that need to be done.  Maybe I will start tomorrow.  Just kidding.
