An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Honing Memory

(Proverbs 8:33 KJV)  Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

I wish I could give credit to the first person who pointed it out to me but I can’t.  Most of us don’t need some new idea or teaching.  We are not even following what we already know.  We “neglect” (6544a) the wisdom that we already have access to.  We are like someone starving to death in a grocery store because he refuses to open a can.

I am finding that much of the music I had memorized is slipping away.  I have known this for years and it kept slipping.  Part of it is probably the aging process.  I just don’t remember like I think I used to.  Most of it is a lack of application.  Now that I am retired I am picking up my guitar and reaching back.  Slowly I am regaining ground but if I neglect to practice and worship with what I have recovered it starts to slip again.

So?  Most of us have the blessing of being taught truth and wisdom.  Most of us have taken it for granted and it is hiding in the recesses of our minds.  Do not fail to stir it up before it disappears.
