An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Life or Violence

(Proverbs 10:11 KJV)  The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

Notice the contrast between this verse and the last verse.  Here we have the “mouth” (6310) of the “righteous” (6662).  In the previous verse we have a “prating fool.”  In the previous verse we have someone who is ignoring evil.  Here we have someone who is speaking out for righteousness.

Is it any surprise that the products of different behaviors are totally opposite.  On one side you have sorrow and violence.  On the side of righteousness you have a “well” (fountain NASB) (4726) of “life” (2425b).

So which result do you want from your life?  If you are reading this on purpose I know where you stand.  If you are on this site by accident, give it a thought.  Ask yourself, “How can I learn to speak with a righteous mouth?”
