An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Profit and Loss Statement

(Proverbs 28:13 KJV)  He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

I think Solomon is talking here about deceiving by design.  We all have things we cover up in embarrassment or panic.  It is a natural desire:  I don’t want to look stupid.  This is a life style.

Some people have personalities built on hypocrisy and fraud.  They deliberately cover up their motives, goals and priorities.  They “covereth” (conceal NASB) (3680) rather than reveal.  They speak lies, planned and choreographed.  They tend to have a short term vision.

God promises that these people will not “prosper” (6743b).  There is a difference between short term profit and long term prosperity.

So?  Focus on the eternal principles.  They have daily application even if you don’t see the pay off.  It is part of walking by faith.
