An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Walk Tall

(Proverbs 30:29 KJV)  There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

Is it desirable to  be “comely” (stately NASB) (3190)?   I think of kings, queens and nobles but the word simply means “glad or pleasing.”

How do you walk?  Have you watched the way people move around?  I think of the times I have been shopping and I see people that don’t seem like they could stay upright if they did not have a shopping cart to lean on.  You see them everywhere.  I feel their pain.  There is no spring in their step.

A lot depends on what you lean on.  Spiritually speaking we can lean on our own understanding or we can trust in the Lord.    That should bring to mind another part of Proverbs.
(Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
So?  When you get out of your car, go into work and see people who know you, ask yourself if they see someone walking stately or someone who dreads what the day may bring.  Trust that the Lord will give you the resources to deal with whatever he allows to drop in front of you.
