An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Change GIGO to WIWO

(Proverbs 22:18 KJV)  For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

We are to “keep” (8104) the scripture within us.  Most of us are familiar with the verse,
(Psalms 119:11 KJV)  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
We know that memorizing and meditating on scripture helps us live obediently.  This gives us another vector for the Word.

We are to study the word so that truth and wisdom will be “fitted” (ready NASB) (3559) when we need it.  I think of the promise that the Holy Spirit will bring to mind what we need and verses like this point out the need to put it in so that it can be taken out.  This would be the opposite of GIGO, call it WIWO, wisdom in, wisdom out.

Just as you cannot share your lunch if you don’t have one, you can’t share your wisdom if you didn’t bring any today.

So?  Read and enjoy the word.  Make a deliberate attempt to memorize or remember it well enough that you can find the reference it you need to.  Think of yourself as a solar panel.  You must collect in order to power up.  Be blessed today.
