An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Part Numbers

(Proverbs 2:3 KJV)  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

The KJV is a bit weak here.  It has “knowledge” instead of the “discernment” (998) of the NASB.  The KJV usually does better because its most common translation is “understanding”.  It is not enough to have knowledge, as important as it is.  I was recently looking for a replacement knob on an old air conditioner.  I knew what I wanted.  I understood how to change it and how to order it.  What I didn’t know was the part number.  That took a lot of research.  I ordered the part but until it arrives I still won’t know if I did good.

So?  Read, study and gather knowledge but don’t stop there.  Pray for understanding so that you can put the knobs on correctly.
