An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Low Lifes in High Places

(Proverbs 9:14 KJV)  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

This verse is talking about the woman of folly (verse 13) rather than wisdom (verse 1).  It is pointing out that those who would drag you down know how to trap you.  They deliberately try to look like the real thing.  They may even mix with the real thing.

I don’t know if you ever go into one of the dollar stores around town.  Most of the merchandise is obviously junk.  Brand names are often at or beyond their expiration dates.  Some is totally good stuff.  One of the things I have noticed is that much of the junk goes out of its way to imitate the packaging of the brand name.  They will have similar color schemes and pick names that are similar.  If you don’t know what you are looking for you could be fooled.

How do you tell the difference?  The same principle applies in shopping as in life.  Read the label carefully and pay attention.  Getting a cheap brand of dish washing liquid will not ruin your life.  Getting folly instead of wisdom will.

So?  Read, think, study, pray.  Wisdom is available.
