(Pro 16:24 KJV) Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
I don’t remember if I ever wanted to be a doctor. Cop, yes. Fireman, sure. Zorro, definitely. Doctor, not really. At this time in my life I would not be unhappy about having the gift of healing. Maybe this verse is an indicator of how I could at least be an influence in that direction. I could pay more attention to what I say to people.
It does not say it here but I think one of the ingredients in our “pleasant” (5278) “words” (561) would be sincerity. People often have built in baloney detectors. When people tell me I look good today they seem to forget that I have a mirror at home and I use it every morning. If I were suddenly looking good I think I would know. I would advise looking for something genuine to say. It might be a challenge but God can help our insight and our attitude.
So? Be someone’s urgent care for the day. You will feel better. They will feel better.
