The Silent Type

(Pro 19:1 KJV) Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

What price would you be willing to pay in order to be accepted, to fit in?  Sometimes we do this by remaining silent.  If I looked I could list a number of places in Proverbs that would endorse this behavior, verses having to do with avoiding anger and conflict.  Then there is my favorite,

(Pro 17:28 KJV) Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

The Bible is okay with us keeping our mouth shut.  The problem seems to be when we open it.  I know I have times when I need the last word.  I also realize that I rarely simply say, “I don’t know,” and leave it at that.  I always seem to need to add, “but...” and share my wisdom.  That is not approved.

So?  Simple.  Most of the time, keep your mouth shut.  Now if I could only practice what I am preaching.
