The Right to Choose

(Proverbs 22:24 KJV)  Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

The KJV states clearly what is only inferred in the NASB.  The NASB says to not “associate” (7462b) which would be almost impossible.  Paul points that out. 

(1 Corinthians 5:9-11 NAS77)  I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world.  But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one.

The KJV zeroes in on what we can control.  It tells us not to “make friends” with the wrong kind of people.  Here the emphasis is on the “furious” (hot-tempered NASB) (2534).  Other places there are other warnings. 

So?  We can choose the people we develop deep relationships with.  Choose wisely.
