Wisdom Shelf

(Pro 10:14 KJV)  Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

My family has a lot of books.  Books to us are like dust to Pigpen.  A good illustration of this is a characteristic of our trips to Hawaii.  We discovered the Friends of the Library on Maui.  They had a tin shack out in the cane fields with books piled all over the place.  We were in hog heaven.  At ten cents a book we would buy anything that looked interesting.  We would end up shipping home apple boxes filled with books every time we visited.   

Having said that, I have a shelf on which I keep my treasures, my sources of wisdom.  There are a few select books, in addition to the Bible, that I try to re-read every few years.  An example?  How about Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.  I “store” (6845) the knowledge I need to supplement my quest for wisdom.  I don’t get it confused with the light entertainment that I find in the “new books” section of the library.

So?  Let’s assume you are reading your Bible.  Are you setting aside other tools?  Are you in a constant search for knowledge that will help you be one of the upright?  If not, it might be a good idea to start.
