An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Princes of Transgression

(Proverbs 28:2 KJV)  For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

Do we get the government we deserve?  I honestly hope not but that may be the reason we see so much corruption and foolishness in our leadership.  Who came up with this idea?  From a Google search the consensus seems to be a man named Joseph de Maistre.  His version was “Every country has the government it deserves.”

This verse would go along with that.  It seems to be saying that each of us is a prince of transgression.  Does the statement that we have all sinned ring any bells?  Does the gate to destruction being wide cause you any concerns?  Since we live in a culture of human beings we can expect them to act like human beings, that is, if we are Christians.  Our culture denies original sin.  Our education system is filling our children with the drivel that they are all snowflakes that have been polluted by the soot of a capitalist, homophobic, patriarchal society.

So?  Through the grace of God and the Blood of the Perfect Lamb of God we can become part of the solution.  Of course, Jesus is the real Man of Understanding but we can be His servants instead of His opponents.
